Goin' back

I'm goin' back to where the winds howl my name,
I'm goin' back to where my footsteps echo on the old wooden walkways,
I'm goin' back to where my spirit lies...

Elizabeth de Bohun (Stugis/Barlow)

Elizabeth de Bohun was Elizabeth FitzAlan's mother.  She lived from 1345 until 1385 (40 years).  She was the wife of Sir Richard FitzAlan, the 11th Earl of Arundel, who was executed by Richard II for high treason (London, 1397).  Hmmm....seems she was bound to the Earl when she was very young (about 9 years old)...I'm sure it was to bring two powerful and wealthy families together (what else is new?)  Her grandmother was Elizabeth (Isabel) Plantagenet, a daughter of Edward I and granddaughter of Henry III.

Their marriage bound two of the most powerful families in England together, along with Elizabeth's brother's marriage to Richard's sister.

Elizabeth died at the age of 35, and her husband would remarry to Phillipa de Mortimer, the widow of Sir John de Hastings, before being executed for high treason against King Richard.
