Goin' back

I'm goin' back to where the winds howl my name,
I'm goin' back to where my footsteps echo on the old wooden walkways,
I'm goin' back to where my spirit lies...

Here's some info about her on Find a Grave:

Birth: 1371
Arundel
West Sussex, England
Death: Jul. 8, 1425
Wighill
North Yorkshire, England

Elizabeth Fitzalan Duchess of Norfolk, was the daughter of Richard Fitz-Alan, Earl of Arundel, and Elizabeth de Bohun. Married Sir William Montague; Thomas Mowbry, Duke of Norfolk; Sir Robert Goushill; and Sir Gerald Usflete. Elizabeth Fitz-Alan was descended from King Edward I through her mother's ancestry, and Edmund Plantagenet through her father's line. She is buried in a tomb in Hoveringham Church in Nottinghamshire next to her third husband Sir Robert Goushill who died at the Battle of Shrewsbury in 1403. Robert Goushill was knighted by King Henry IV the day of the battle. Wounded, he was murdered by his servant on the Shrewsbury battlefield for his valuables. The servant was later identified and hung for his crime. Many Americans including Franklin D. Roosevelt can trace Plantagenet ancestry through Elizabeth Fitz-Alan's daughters Joan and Elizabeth Goushill.

This would be Elizabeth and Sir Robert Guishill (also an ancestor)...
Her father was Richard Fitz Alan, 11th Earl of Arundel. He was arrested for opposing Richard II (high treason against the king) and was beheaded after his trial (a common practice for some of my ancestors, especially those who opposed kings of England!)

Arundel Castle

She married Sir Robert Goushill (3rd husband) and I'm descended from Joan Goushill, on my John Sturgis/Deborah Barlow line.   Elizabeth had a double line of descent to the Plantagenet kings of England.  Through her mother, her lines went back to King Edward I and through her father her lines went back to Henry III.  During her lifetime, she would live through the reigns of Richard II, Henry IV, Henry V, and into the reign of Henry VI.

Oh, and here's another tidbit:

Presidents James Madison, John Tyler and Zachary Taylor, explorer Capt. Meriwether Lewis, Gen. George S. Patton, and actor Marlon Brando are descendants of Robert Goushill and Elizabeth FitzAlan.

AND, From Elizabeth (these would be cousins, since they didn't have Goushill as their father...)

Confederate General Robert E. Lee, President Thomas Jefferson, Gen. Douglas MacArthur and Francis Scott Key are descendants of Thomas Mowbray and Elizabeth FitzAlan. (also from rootsweb)
